Biography

Nancy Sun is an associate faculty member in the Music Department at 69ÂÜÀò, where she teaches beginning and intermediate piano courses. She is also a faculty member and project advisor for the Three Summers Master’s program at San Jose State University's Music Department. A dedicated music educator and private piano teacher, Nancy is passionate about teaching students with diverse learning styles.

Nancy began her piano studies at the age of eight and has served as a church pianist since the age of twelve. In addition, she serves as a church choir conductor, further enriching her involvement in community music. She holds an Associate of Arts in Music from 69ÂÜÀò, a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from UCLA, and a Master of Music in Music Education from San Jose State University, where her research focuses on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). At San Jose State University, Nancy also taught at the university's Young Musician's Project and has been a guest lecturer.

Since 2015, Nancy has taught piano, voice, and music theory at her private studio in Los Gatos, California, with students consistently achieving excellent ratings in the annual Certificate of Merit examination through the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). Nancy is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC), and the California Association for Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT).
