COMM 001: Public Speaking

Biography

I began my college journey at De Anza Community College without a clue of who I was and who I wanted to become. It was during my first Public Speaking course that I developed a love for Communication Studies and the sense of home that community college has to offer. After transferring to UCLA and completing my bachelor’s degree, I immediately began graduate school at SJSU. At SJSU, I taught six sections of Public Speaking as a Graduate Teaching Associate (GTA), which solidified my love for teaching.

Now, I teach at various Bay Area community colleges in their Communication Studies Department. As I design my courses, there is one question I always ask myself: how can students take this content beyond the classroom? My goal as an instructor is to work students towards a love for learning and curiosity for the world around us. I do not want my course to be something they finish for the semester and forget about. I value the skills taught within Communication courses and emphasize where students can take those skills next.

When I am not teaching, I love to do yoga, go on neighborhood walks, hang out with my bunnies, eat ice cream, and go on long runs with my partner.
